Here is the third part of the series where we look at Miles’ ‘monologue’ at the end of each episode. If you haven’t read the previous posts, you can read the first part here, and the second part here. By the way, we’ve reached season two. So please enjoy…

S2E1 : Joy

A lot has happened since I last recorded, but I’ll get into the details in a bit. I have been obsessed with delivering you the best season two (of my podcast) that I forgot that the most important lesson from season one, helping people. Because when you do, when you put others before yourself, good things always happen. And most of the time we learn something new thing about ourselves, about what we’re willing to give up to move forward. I am not saying that this is an easy thing to do. Taking that next step never is, but sometimes looking into your past is the only way to discover your future. I don’t know where I am supposed to go from here. All I know is that I am ready to pass along everything that I learned to Joy, and as for what comes next for me, that’s what I got to figure out. And when I do, you’ll be the first to know.

S2E2 : The Lady

This episode didn’t have ‘the monologue ending’, but here is an excerpt from the conversation between Simon and Annie. (Annie was a journalist whose career was ended by Simon some years ago) I literally felt that it was the strongest message in this episode. It was even in context of the friend suggestion of this episode, Teddy Preston, who gave up his son Jacob and his girlfriend after the girlfriend’s “rich” dad offered him money to stay away.

Annie : What does it feel like not to care about anything or anyone but yourself. I wanted to know what it’s like to go through life like that?

Simon : It’s lonely.

S2E3 : From Paris with Love

This episode too didn’t have ‘the monologue ending’. To be honest, I learned only two things from this episode. First, that Paris is a beautiful city. Not that “simply beautiful”, but damn beautiful. Second, well, nothing. That’s it. Sorry to get your hopes high.

S2E4 : All Those Yesterdays

We’re all searching for answers. Where do we come from? Who are we? Where do we fit in this world? Sometimes, having even the smallest connection to our past can chart a new future. And sometimes, we have to risk going back to the beginning in order to take a step forward. It’s not always easy navigating you were and who you want to be, but in the end, it’s the people closest to you that help you find your path.

S2E5 : The Greater Good

We all have a million things going on at once, life pulling us in every direction. It can be hard, trying to balance what’s important, what really matters, but sometimes we need to stop and mark the occasions that are meaningful, to recognize when there needs to be a change. And yet, be careful how you go about changing things. It’s hard, I get it. But sometimes, change is necessary to take that step forward and find that balance we’re all searching for.

S2E6 : The Fighter

Sometimes we can see our lives echoed in those around us. It gives us a renewed sense of purpose, reminds us of what’s important, and what we’re really fighting to hold on to. But sometimes, no matter how hard we try, it isn’t enough. It can leave us torn between the past and the future. In the end, our actions will always be stronger than our words. But I believe people can change, that we can learn from our mistakes, and that our future remains unwritten.

S2E7 : Instant Karma

Cause and effect is a part of our everyday lives. It doesn’t matter what we call it, we take actions, there are consequences. Sometimes the results are surprising. It can send us down a path we never thought to explore, or awaken us to a truth we have known all along. Things never turn out exactly how we planned. But in the end all we have to do is control what we put it out in the world, and hope what’s returned makes it all worth it.

S2E8 : The Last Grenelle

Up until a few days ago, I thought I was the first person friended by the God Account. Turns out there’s someone who came before me, someone who’s walked this path and knew the sacrifices that came with it, that even if we get lost, it’s never too late to find our way back. When we do, we often appreciate it even more. In the end, we know we are on the right path when the people we love choose to walk it with us. But what happens when we find ourselves on a path someone has walked before and warns us of the dangers that lie ahead. I believe when that happens, we can choose to walk it differently, and not walk it alone.

S2E9 : Prophet & Loss and S2E10 : High Anxiety

Miles’ did not have his Podcast moments in these episodes, so I am providing my interpretation of the common message these two episodes gave.

Many times we do things which we think is for the best, if not for us, then at least for our loved ones. We assume that even if we suffer, our loved ones will be happy with all that they have got in exchange for us. That is never true. Your life is much more important to your family than what you leave behind. They may receive a little relief from a smaller pain, but it will be at the cost of a much bigger sorrow.

Our presence is one of the most valuable assets of our loved ones, and nothing can replace that. Being there together at the times of sorrow and celebration makes all the difference. We must think before doing anything which can take us away from our loved ones and cause innumerable pains on both sides.

And as I had promised in Part 1 of this series,

S1E4 : Error Code 1.61

People talk about fate or destiny like some things are meant to be but I don’t believe in destiny. Our lives are the result of the choices we make, big and small. And when it comes to love, that’s when our choices matter the most. We choose when to open up to it, how to define it, or if we even need to. We choose when to let it back in, and how to move forward. We can even choose the kind of love we need. Love doesn’t always go the way you hope it will. Sometimes the timing just isn’t right. And even though I don’t believe in destiny, I do believe in second chances. You just have to be ready for it when it comes.
